Hei Guys,
Anyone know of a source for cheap jarrah here in WA.
I was hoping to cut up a railway sleeper, but an old one I got was too hard and brittle, and new sleepers I can't find.
Any ideas?
Cheers

Smidsy,

There are always jarrah for sale cheap in the Quokka. Usually from old pergolas that people have pulled down. Roof timber tends to be a bit more exxy.

As for salvage yards, yeah, they;re great but all their timber needs a bit of work. At the upper end, Vinsans in bayswater are pretty good (http://www.vinsancontracting.com.au). All their stuff denailed and sorted and neatly stacked. But they are a bit more pricey. I got 4x2mtr perfect Redgum ex-house stumps for $30

Your average joe salvage is usually pretty cheap but you have to spend a bit of time sorting through as the timber is often in a big pile. I always take a small BBQ scraper so I can see whats underneath the gunk.
