I couldn't help but cringe when I saw the 3rd clip, the offset hook tool.

It looks to work very, very nicely... but I imagine that it's on a european softwood (do they have any other kind? :;) and green at that?

I'm guessing it'd be brown pants and medivac the first time I tried using it on, say, old redgum...

Thanks . The rubber cover and triangular profile of the handle are good ideas. I will definitely steal them. :wink:

Reckon some well dried oak would see the diamond hone get a lot of use.

ps, there's an interesting article on end grain hollowing on the FWW website by Alan Lacer. He goes into ring and hook tools.

You need to have a sub but free 2 week trials are available and there's a fair amount of turning stuff in the archives.
