My latest turning, a small simply magnolia lidded bowl with a finial made of Queen Ebony. Got this Queen Ebony from Eliza a little time ago as a gift, thank you very much Eliza !!! Highly appreciated.
The measurements of the bowl, 140mm in diameter with a height of 130mm including the finial.
Cheers, Ad

As usual Ad, nice turning, good line and a good contrast of timbers.:2tsup::2tsup::2tsup:

Don't know ifI would call it a finial, doesn't have a pointy end.

Hey Arthur, is it a necessity that a finial have a pointed end?
I learned to make finials this way from my American penfriend.

Nice AD...

I would call it a knob/handle?

I guess it is technically a finial but on lidded bowls they are often much taller and pointer with complex profiles. I am given to understand that the ladies kept their rings on these spikes.

Personally I prefer yours!!! it is practical/useful. I often think that the tall spikey finials are decorative rather than practical.

Great work,

Chipman

That's pretty Ad. Subtle but attractive wood. Nice knob too. I like the contrast.
