I am looking for a Thicknesser planer but have no experience with them. Is anyone able to give me some pointers on what you should look for when making a decision. I would like a unit which will take a 14 -15 inch wide piece. I understand the unit should be well mounted but drive set up, blade numbers and speed may produce different outcomes and lower maintenance costs.

John, this has been discussed a lot . Do a search on 'thicknesser' and you'll bring up enough to keep you occupied for quite a while.
