Just installed a dvx in the shop. Has to be the smoothest thing I have used yet. No belts. No vibration. No noise. Anyone else using one??

Yes,I can't fault it. But I can't work out the indexing. Is there an indexing attachment? If so how does it mount? And where do I get one cos they are not in the cattledog.

The chrome dome on the top of the headstock , twist and click :)

You can see the index numbers thru the wee window at the back

Ah yes thank you. Makes sense now. I was thinking of a metal lathe index head.

Nice lathe :D

I notice they are cheap (ish) in the US at the moment - is there a new model on the way?

Also note that the SN2 chucks are cheap in the US as well - upgrade as well?

Keep in mind that it does not double as a spindle lock , for loosening thread jammed chucks etc , not solid enough for that.

Drop the knock-out bar down thru the hand-wheel and jamb it against the lock-pin to lock the spindle for the tricky ones

I used one on a turning course I did and really enjoyed it. The headstock got a bit hot on mine (though the other 4 in the room didn't), but not terribly so.

You're right, very smooth and quite powerful.

It's in the price range I'd be considering when I finally upgrade the MC-1100 doing duty in my shed now. There are a couple of lathes in that range, though the DVR is the cheapest at the moment. I'd be interested in how it compares to say a VL175 bench mount, or even a Woodfast C1000X...

Cheers,
Dave
