Hi
I have green wood, which I wish to turn. Some I will turn green and some I want to store. Can you please tell me how best to seal the wood and what are the best products to use."

Thanks

Mobil sell a product called Mobilcer. This is an endgrain sealer which works very well. It's available at just about any Mobil depot or larger outlet, I believe. Rick

There are now much better products than Mobilcer on the market. That product is designed for sealing wounds on trees after pruning etc. not for end grain sealing for turners.

Dussek Campbel (the wax manufacturers) have a new sealer on the market that was designed for just the use you want. It was developed here in Australia with help of the International Wood Collector Society Inc and many of the woodworking clubs throughout Australia. If you are in a club, ask your secretary for details. They were sent to all the clubs along with a sample. (I think).

Failing all else use paraffin wax or a mix of paraffin and beeswax. CLICK HERE (http://ubb.ubeaut.com.au/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000112.html)

Hope this helps.

I've always used PVC glue to seal end grain. It's cheap and seems to work well. I'd like to hear any comments on its relative cost and effectiveness when compared to specialist end grain sealants?
