I know this one will be hard to organise / manage.

Any and all thoughts / comments appreciated.

I'm happy to travel - in Oz, no planes - but where and when?

I know the turning events like PI, SATURN and Proserpine take a lot of organising. But it would be great to have some / most of us turning at the same time.

Over to you....

Perhaps the benevolent Neil might sponsor the event. :D:D:D

Plenty of time.

Or is this just too hard to organise?

Overseas visitors welcome (Ad and Ed already come to mind). I'm sure we could organise some accommodation in almost every State.)

 Somewhere in the middle might work. Everyone travel nearly the same distance. Not necessarily where there is a club, although I guess its easier if there is someone there on the ground. Canberra? But not in winter. :cold: Coffs Habour? Armadale (NSW ), ......

Could me in, assuming I'm still around

ps This should be under Woodies Events, but 2012 is a long way away, so probably get lost where ever it is :-

I only said 2012 because these things take a long time to prepare. I think.

But we do need to find a venue - one that will house many lathes, plus accommodation. For couples, singles etc. Plus an airport handy.

If that bugger Neil ever reads any of this, he might just say No.

I'm in anyway, where ever it is.

I thought thats what Wood shows and Symposiums were for

Tamworths got a Big Shed if they can cater for 5000 plus old pharts who ride motor bikes I am sure they could cater for woodies and the sounds of Thwack Thwack Thwack

I was thinking just "us".

Sure, we can attend Turnfest etc and meet a few on the "board", but it would be nice to see some / all of us in the same place, same time, turning.

This might not get off the ground, just a thought.

Hey Jeff,

Turnfest's 10th birthday is in 2012. I will be holding the biggest woodturning event this country has ever seen. I think your idea would be good. However YES a Massive exercise.

I will have persons attending from all around the world, So if you want to save the hassel just jump on board. I am sure I can tie in a get together of all the forumites and the work is already done.

If not, no big deal.
May I suggest try another year then..

Cheers
David

Great idea, David.

I know the likes of you and Jim C. don't make $$$$ out of what you do...... A passion, isn't it?

Plently of time to go.

Just imagine, a Turnfest with all of the forumites.... All sponsored by Neil. :D:D (He's too busy making money to talk with us/ we plebs).

We missed the group photo at Prosperpine, never mind.

OK, for me anyway, Turnfest 2012 for all on the forum.

David - is that the year that Hans is coming over....????

And thanks for the intros at Prossie... Jim AKA Powderpost needs a greenie...

Same for Cliff and Vern, plus all the Prossie guys....

Sounds interesting, and I'd make the trek to wherever, so count me in.

2012 sounds a long way away. Maybe 2011 or even late 2010

Would somewhere where there's a woodturning shed, like one of the guilds floating about or similar, with people billeted out to the loacal forumites? Would be a lot cheaper than dedicated accomodation/shed facilities.

Just my 2c worth.

Cheers,
Dave
