Been meaning to have ago at this for some time, looks easier than it is.......

Made in Boxwood, stands 4" high & has 25 steps.
For this first attempt I marked out a cylinder (10 divisions), set up eccentric in a big 4 jaw chuck, cut to step diameter with sharp 1/8" parting tool, adjusting the work in the chuck by hand to the next division for the next cut.
If I make another I will finish the ends first! & make up indexable jam chucks.
Nothing like having a go at something to learn how to do it better......

That is seriously cool:2tsup:

The only way I could do that is with a bunch of disks glued together:-

looks easier than it is.......

Dunno about that - looks bloody difficult to me! Trying to get all of that the same diamater and thickness of each bit would be a nightmare!

Thanks for sharing - looks great.

Cheers,
Dave

" ........ looks easier than it is.

I don't think so! I'm with corbs - "The only way I could do that is with a bunch of disks glued together", and then I'd likely get the balance wrong.
You've done a good job.:2tsup:
