its a shame that lathes on ebay always have to be pickup only , and sydney is a bit to far for me to go to pick up a lathe .
but anyone down that way that is after a pen size lathe this would be good buying .
and no the add has nothing to do with me in anyway at all .

hmmm. want.

Would love a VL100 for pen turning, and the belt change doesn't bother me.

Getting shot by LOML for spending yet more money does bother me though!

Just to make it more peinful, that's only 30 mins from my house!!!

cheers,
Dave

Now that would be a great buy even at $500. They don't wear out and a new VL100 is $1001.00 without motor and plus freight ex Brisbane.

I bought one a couple of years ago for $400 including a stand and accessories and had to drive to Adelaide to pick it up. It is a great lathe and was well worth the effort.

It has since been joined in the shed by a Nova 1628/44 with the outrigger unit and between the two I feel that I can turn anything.

GO FOR IT!

Lathe lust is a wonderful feeling.

A bunch of folks on the Practical Machinist Forum have organized so that someone will look at a machine and pass judgement to a prospective buyer, at times halfway across the US. Machine will be bought.

Person near the seller picks up machine and stores it until someone is going in the direction of the new owner. This can happen several times. 8000 pound machines will sometimes take 6 months to a year to get to the buyer.

These guys are hard core old iron nuts. (Says I who bought a 75 year old drill press and a 50 something year old band saw yesterday.) They were not afraid of putting a little iron into the mold back then.

Actually that's a point - I had meant to say that if someone outside Sydney wanted it I could pick up and store until they could organise a pickup from my place
