I found a video on You Tube (by Bob Ham) showing how to turn a winged box from a piece of flat board. Very nicely made video!!
A friend gave me an 89mm diameter Cedar (Juniper) limb that contained a "Y"-crotch, so I cut out the Y, and bored a hole 54mm x 12.7mm for a chuck to expand into. It all turned out well, and as a finish, after sanding to 600, I buff-polished it with white diamond, and buff-waxed it with a bit of carnauba. Be careful of the spinning prop!!!
The lid is spalted Beech, with a Lemon knob.
Cheers, and thanks for looking, the pics are down at the bottom,
Gil

:2tsup: Great. I like the varying rings around the box too. Makes it look a bit like a little splash. (I might have a bit of wood I could try that with. :D )

Thanks y'all, for the kind and encouraging words. It was fun and different to make. You have some fine looking timber down there, maybe it would look good as a burl of some sort.
Oh, and as for the turning in the video at 3,500 rpm, the fastest I went on this one was 2,400 rpm.
Good luck with yours Tea Lady, and show it off to us when you are finished.

Cheers,
Gil
