Gday all, just wanted to post some pics of my first ever turnings. Got the new shed up and bought myself a second hand vicmarc VL850, and so far i'm quite happy with it, its a pretty solid unit.
Well the first pic is a rolling pin made with some native olive, pretty hard stuff but finished well.
second is a myrtle burl bowl/thing, picked up the blank in tassie but it started to crack in places so i thought i'd try to do something with it, stopped and finished it before it blew apart, 600 grit and shellawax glow (its all i had at the time)
third is a piece of redgum from a burnt out tree in the vineyard. finished with SIFA, was going to use danish oil but a friend suggeted the other.
thanks for looking

Nice start....

And now you are hooked like the rest of us.:D:D:D

Just a word of warning...don't take up pen turning....then you will really know what an addiction is!!!!

Look forward to seeing more of your work

Joey, you had a better start than me when I started with woodturning.
You are a fast learner, looks very good.
