Hei Paul,
If you get desperate and could make do with bolts instead of wing nuts any shop that sells gear for radio control aircraft will have 1/4 nylon bolts as these are commonly used in R/C aircraft.
Not exactly what you're after but something to keep in mind if you get desperate.

Thanks Bazza but I was hoping to find someone in Aust and avoide the postage and the time delay. I do have the option of making my own but it would be much easier to buy them.

I just cant believe that there is no one in Aust that dosent import or Manuf plastic wing nuts.

By the way this is for a Tenon Jig on my Jet Saw.

Thanks Paul for your idea but i dont think this will suit my Jig.
Thanks again

Nylon Products Australia, based here in Adelaide.

Look at the microplastics range.

However, they are a wholesaler for the electronics industry, you'd probably have to buy in packs of 100pcs.

Send Ian007 a PM. He is able to supply what you want for about $1 each and will mail them to anywhere. I bought a range of knobs, etc from him recently and was very happy with what he supplied.

There was a thread here about 3 weeks ago in which he posted a pic of the gear.

Cheers

Hi Paul,
Try a company called Ludowici here's the link http://www.ludowici.com.au/cgi-bin/hcapps.pl/index.html
They specialise in this type of product and if you crash and burn in Oz they almost certainly will have in Cristchurch NZ. Good Luck Skimmer.

Good theatrical lighting suppliers have things calles TRIWHEELS which are a bolt with a moulded plastic knob in them, 3/8 is most common but 5/16 & 1/4 can be got.

Cliff electronics in brisbane have a plastic knob that clips onto a hex bolt in two sizes. the larger takes a 5/16 or 8mm bolt. you just drop the bolt in one half & snap the other half on. good stuff.

or brase a wing nut onto a short length of threaded rod.

cheers

In the past I have used the tee shaped plastic handles that are fitted to a lot of Triton gear. They are available as a part from triton and fit a 1/4 "whitworth bolt I think". They are a plastic handle with a nut down inside so if you wanted to you could change the nut.

They are a little larger than you need but may be a good alternative. You can get metal wing nuts at a lot of hardware shops, there are several types, and one is much superior than the others.

Dick Smith stores used to stock plastic bolts and wing nuts years ago, check the electronics suppliers catalogues.

Mike. :)
