Gidday all.
What is known about Dabar lathes. I know they were made in Hobart. I understand they were only made for a relatively short time, patent issues apparently. I am more interested in thread size of the spindle, does it have indexing. Most importantly, is this a good lathe. Seems to be quite heavy duty, all clean heavy castings. One has been on E-Bay and I might have a chance to negotiate with the seller post auction end. Sorry, don't know how to post a link.
I am going to arrange a viewing in the next couple days. I know to check that the centers line up and how to check bearings. Is there anything else in particular I should be looking for? I like the fact that this one has an extension bed to allow 2.3 meters between centers.
Any comments for or against would be appreciated.
Over to the learned ones!!!
Cheers
