If the bowl is been rough cut, dried and warped, has anyone used assorted carving spoons to re-cut it for a rustic look? My sister in law saw an old bread bowl and noticed all the old cutting tool marks etc. She inquired about trying to do the same thing and the thought never crossed my mind. I am not a wood carver by any means so forgive me if I misnamed any of those specific tools.

Agreed.

There is a difference between rustic and crude. Stick to the former.

I reckon the best thing for this type of thing is the saburr disc on the end of a 4" andle grinder. If you haven't seen them then do a web search. Jim Carroll has em. Like an Arbotech but not so lethal and gives you a better finish. It would have a bowl like the one described shaped in no time.
