Finished these with a few days to spare (weather has been no help) :~

All Rosewood Handles Knife and Salad servers oval turned (they are as close as close can be to matching pair). I am pleased with the result. Cheese knives all finished with 5 coats of WOP.

Background they are sitting on is Sue component of the gift a woven table runner & 4 place mats.

I'm impressed Ray :2tsup:

Awesome work. Love the oval turning. I've liked the idea of doing that sort of present but round turning just doesn't seem right for the hardware.

Cheers,
Dave

Thanks for the comments gents. We both enjoyed making these. The Groom being our youngest sons best friend, work mate, both got their bike licences together and then best man. Sue's old boss, family almost as he and both our sons and daughter & SIL used to go riding their motor bikes together.

Dave the oval turning isn't that hard you have all the gear you need a spur drive and live centre. I hadn't done any since school days  As you saw did the hammer handle for a practice then a couple of practice bits with the Rosewood which one has been used for the final items. I then turned the matching salad servers last.

Cutting and set up is easy, shaping and being mindful of the rotation and gap between wood and rest keeping fingers and knuckles out of harms way.
