Faceplate turners can get inspiration from two of Raffan's books on bowl design and also Phil Streeting's stuff on the catenary curve.

As my interest turns more to spindle turning now I came across and ordered this source of classic forms: click (http://www.thenile.com.au/books/Stuart-Dyas/Classic-Forms/9780854421909/)

Some nice urn designs for those who'd like to inter an Ern ;-}

The pic is a scan of the table of contents.

PS, also by way of inspiration was watching do a table leg at a turn-on last year. Not only how quick he did it but how elegant the form was; tho Victorian rather than classic at a guess

And how is he?

I once knew a girl who had a pink T-shirt in origami
you had to be careful or she would fold you into little pieces :p

Groan.

Another source of classic forms is "The Styles of Ornament" by Alexander Speltz. ISBN 0-486-20557-6. Copyright-free. Mostly stone and metal, and only a little of it round. Octagonal could be translated to round.

Cheers,
Joe

No apologies needed TL; had some good laughs out of 'which belt?'

My 2c worth:

US belt: a double whisky
Aussie belt: a thrashing for bad behaviour
Zen belt: drops to the floor after removal forming a perfect unrepeatable set of French curves ;-}
