<o:smarttagtype namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com<img src=" http:="" cdn.woodworkforums.com="" images="" smilies="" sad="" shock.gif="" border="0" alt="" title="Shock" smilieid="413" class="inlineimg"></o:smarttagtype> It is only 13 weeks to the first Australian Woodturning Symposium in this format for 22 years is to be held at St. Leo’s <st1:street w:st="on"><st1:address w:st="on">College St.</st1:address></st1:street> Lucia, <st1><st1:city w:st="on">Brisbane</st1:city></st1>, from July 14<sup>th</sup> to July 18<sup>th</sup> this year.

The Symposium is organised by a number of prominent Australian professional woodturners with over 100years experience between them of "enjoying the Thrill of Making the Chips Fly".

The programme will give all woodturners the opportunity to tap into some of the best Australian and International woodturning talent available today and to help in taking woodturning in this country to a new level. None of the Internationals will have been seen in Australia before this time.

Pre-registration is essential. There is limited comfortable on-site accommodation and hearty meal packages available. Lunch and smokos are included in the registration for each day.

Then each evening, after the demonstrations there will be hands-on sessions so you can try the techniques you saw earlier.

<o></o> The programme is structured to suit everyone interested in woodturning, from the raw beginner through to the most experienced, with several opportunities to have a hands-on experience with your favourite presenters.

<o></o> The International presenters include Benoit Averly from <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1>France</st1></st1:country-region>with his much sort after and awarded lidded box designs. South African John Wessels ill explain his unique ways of combining pewter with wood.

<o></o> Peter Hromek from <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1>Germany</st1></st1:country-region> has his own unique method of turning stylish multi-axis forms inspired by seed pods. Dixie Biggs from the <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1>USA</st1></st1:country-region> will show how to enhance your work using carving and pyrographic techniques.

This is an opportunity not to be missed by those wishing to expand their woodturning experience.
