Hello women,

I really want to learn how to make things from wood and was wondering where best to start. I am a woman :) in Melbourne. My interest area is children's toys. Simple beds, dollhouses, tool boxes, play stands (like this Free Playstand Plans (http://atgcarving.com/freeplaystandplans.aspx))

I am also keen to restore old furniture pieces like dressing tables etc. I have no one to show me the ropes and a not so handy hubby, so I am wanting to make a go of it myself.

ANy tips?

Hi Spinderella
Have you looked at your local TAFE to see if they have short courses? It would also be worth your while contacting and joining the Victorian Woodworkers Association - a great source of help, ideas and fantastic members who are more than happy to offer help to each other. Hope you continue to enjoy your time working with wood!:)

Hi Spindarella,

What part of "Melbourne" do you live as I may be able
to direct you to a woodworking/woodturning club.?
