Hi all,

Wonder if anyone can help....

I helped lay rosewood floorboards a few years ago on plywood which was nailed onto a concrete slab that was about 3 years old. A couple of years ago the floorboards started creaking/squeeking when someone walks on them.

We laid-out the plywood and had to leave for a few days. The house was locked up and the days were quite hot. When we returned the plywood was a little warped. My partner suggested we just nail the plywood to the concrete and that should solve the problem. The wood was then stapled to the plywood.

My question.. to you think the creaks could be from the plywood or the floorboards? If plywood, anything we can do apart from pulling everything apart?

:help2:

hi and welcome to the forum.

when you say you "nailed the ply to the concrete".

can you be more specific?

what type of nails?
how long were the nails?
how thick were the nails?
galvinized, masonary or normal steel nails?
straight nails or proper concrete nails with the bend in the middle?
did you use plastic spaghetti or plastic rawl plugs?

did you seal the concrete slab with a 2 part epoxy first?
did you use any type of adhesive or did you solely rely on the nails?

give us specific information and then we can help you.....
