a gaggle of grinders

Not sure if this is the right collective noun for grinders .
A neighbour asked me if I would make him eight sets of S&P grinders for him to take as gifts for his family in Europe in a couple of months time so here they are , plus a couple of spare sets I made while I was at it .They are 250mm size and laminated from 4 pieces of 90mm hardwood decking . The light timber is blackbutt and the red is what is sold as Forest Red . I am told this is mostly iron bark .

I particularly like the great contrast that you've got in the timbers used, as well as the little touches such as the brass vs black 'knobs' on the tops (I assume salt vs pepper?).

Not sure about forest red vs iron bark, totally different trees to my knowledge, but perhaps more about how it is sold more than species.

Justin , you just unscrew the knob on top then they come apart.
These were made with the conventional Danish made mechanisms.
I've noticed that the Chinese made crush grind ceramic mechanisms are now available for about the same cost . Has anyone had any good or bad experience with these ?
