Great find, Hughie! Thanks for posting that link. I've gone through it, and it's definitely some interesting reading. Makes me think I need to be more careful when I get a nice log, to get the best of it, and to display it well. God puts all that stuff inside these trees... he just lets us show off His handiwork! :D

Blakely is less than an hour drive from here (home), and I found out about all this AFTER it was over...dang it! Would have liked to watch it all, and maybe volunteer to help turn a lump of that burl.

Fabulous bit of wood.

So that'd be Terry Martin the Aussie turner? Sorry, I ignored the text mostly.

Just as a BTW, there's a species of Redgum called Blakely; grows around Rutherglen in Vic.
