When moving to a Vicmarc lathe with a 30mm tool post, all of my custom and speciality rests looked redundant, with their 1" diameter posts.

GJ volunteered to turn up a sleeve and it fits finger tight. Shmick.

Nice one John.

Hope you enjoy the 'sippin whiskey' :D

Thanks for the sippin' whisky Ern, just as well you gave it to me after the job was done otherwise the fit might not have been so close.

Ern how do you stop it rotating if you undo the screw too far.

May be worth puting a grub screw ot the other side to prevent this.

Nice work John.:2tsup:

Jim, it is an interference fit i.e. light press fit. It shouldn't come loose during normal use, but can still be removed if necessary.

Looks like you have more tool rests than some have tools!

Yeah Fred, had an hour with the new baby yesterday. Very sweet.I have to span 30' sometimes and using a short rest and moving it is a pain.:oo::wink:

Ern, with all those tool rests, you must be quite rested up :D

Yep Ed. One for each mood. Music to match, usually thrumming from a thinning bowl wall.

...

I've changed all the chuck inserts over. 30x3.5s left from Stubby days.

The vac chuck will have to be hacked again but fortunately the steady rest has a spacer block that just needs thinning down to suit the lower centre height.

Hmm, what else ... ?
