right-angle drill or adaptor

I have to do a job on Saturday requiring a right-angle drill. I've spent too much on tools recently to buy a dedicated top line drill, so I'm wondering if anybody has a recommendation for a good quality attachment or a cheaper and reliable drill. I have a feeling I will find more uses for it than I imagine. As the saying goes, I can't afford a cheap (crap) tool.

Cheers
Michael

funny you should ask, the other day I was in bunnies and they are selling a GMC right angle electric drill/screwdriver - its designed specifically for inside cupboards or confined spaces etc... it looks like a batt drill without the nose or batteries, its got a 10 mm chuck, reverse variable speeds, approx 3 metre power cord, 500w of power, a carry case, about a 60 odd piece accessory kit (brad drills, spade bits, various drivers etc etc) all in a carry case with a storage area for each piece. all for $45. Right up your alley by the sound of things.... even if the bits are #### (which they probably are) its not bad value...

I'm generally a bit of a bigot when it comes to cheap ####ty power tools but with the 30 day money back and 2 yr relacement warranty you cant go wrong. it really looks the goods for $45... heaps of torque - I cant comment on reliability or staying power, however with 240v power its probably ok. I'll give it a damn good thrashing over the next few months and report back to the board on its performance if you want.

I thought I saw a 90 degree attachment on the Carbatec stand at the Melbourne Show last weekend. Give them a call or check out their website.

It is on their website but I can't open the link (The requested template(e:\inetstore\public-html\svc010\\catalogue\carbatec2\templates\public\ v9_PRO-75_win-header.html) was not found on this server.)

I don't know what this means nor am I game enough to comment.

Do your self a favour, check out Ebay, there is a truck load of right angle drill attachments for sale there, and usually for much cheaper than in the stores.

(sorry I am a new ebay junkie)

I too have changed my mind about GMC. For somethings, the GMC is the way to go. I bought a GMC biscuit joiner and it does a great job. If I had to use one everyday, I'd go spend $500+ the Makita or similar but since I'll use the BJ 6 times this year it's ideal.

I havnt changed my mind, but geez... $45 ! thats dirt cheap - spinning a drill or a screw is not exactly very demanding for an electric motor!

I recently took delivery of my new porter cable BJ.... i'm gunna use it in anger for the first time this weekend. should be fun.

Bunnings and I think Mitre 10 have a Supercraft right-angle attachment for drills. About $20. Works well.

Thanks for the feedback. I might pickup the gmc. But then again I might go for the Ryobi professional series cordless right angle drill. I have had the prof series impact driver for sometime now and it is THE ****.

cheers

If you have a compressor I'd consider an air tool :)

Went to Bunnies this arvo and they wanted $85 for the corded GMC with 100 pc kit. So I bought the $20 adaptor to get me by. I don't think the GMC comes in very much shorter than a little cordless now I've had a look at it.

Saw the GMC - thought it was a bit on the heavy side - but be interested to see what Zed thinks after using for a while.

BTW mic-d - they had it at $85 marked down to $45

If this is a one time job, why not rent one instead? Check your local rental shops, I'm sure one rents them out. I've rented a Milwaukee unit to bore some holes between wall studs before. Wasn't that much to rent, and a whole lot cheaper than buying, and I haven't needed on since.
