Hi folks

Hi guys
Thanks foe the replies and sorry for delay replying. Seems to going ok.
Cliff the pen I use is a hot wire unit called a made in Wales but similar to a Peter Childs unit that you may have heard over there? Not sure what units you have in your neck of the woods:U

Thanks again for the kind words chaps :U
Cliff - I use a hot wire unit called `Davan` over here in the UK,its similar to a Peter Childs unit you might have heard over your neck of the woods?
Graeme - 1st frame the Celtic knot bowl/platter, Ash 250mm diam, 50mm high
2nd frame the leafy `hollow form` Tulipwood about 250mm diam 50mm high
3rd frame hf on the left Sycamore, 150mm wide,150mm high to base of finial
3rd frame platter with lid on right, Ash about 200m diam, 70mm high to base of finial
4th frame Tulipwood, 250mm diam, 70mm high
When I do a lot of pyro on an item I only use bland wood for the piece so I suppose can`t be accused of hiding the grain of the wood. I think some turners are not too happy with painting/burning/piercing etc turned pieces, all enjoyable stuff to do anyway :U

Beauty, thanks.

I have a solid tip unit that I am not happy with, I have since bought an Ironcore (http://www.ironcore.com.au/products.php?secure=111&prod_id=12) hot wire unit but I am yet to get a chance to try it out.

I've got both types here Cliff (inherited). Me dear ol' mum only used the solid tip job for shading and the Ironcore for everything else. I find it easier to just turn the current down on the Ironcore to do the shading
