Tried to make some reinforcements by placing steel rings for the roller bearings, this was a bit of an improvement, but not fully satisfying.
My wish was always a full metal spindle, and I stumbled unexpected against a metal spindle from an old machine in a junkyard and found more useful stuff. I got it for free, after a little talk.
This is what I got my hands on, complete with two roller bearings of 50mm.

Now the job to transform it into a useful spindle.

Had to make a new housing for the spindle, and assemble everything.

Yesterday the first test with turning a small object, the steel spindle is a real improvement, almost no slack anymore.

Was a nice project for filling the gab while waiting for picking up my work on the staircase.
Here a video of the running device. (without safety guard)

Ad, I must say that you were pretty brave to stand in the direct line of fire without a safety guard attached while filming :o

Hey...FREE is always the best and looks like you did a top notch construct :2tsup:

Gees, sounds like it's about to shake itself to bits :U

But you seem happy with it and the price was good :2tsup:

Very satisfying to make some thing from "junk". Especially when it works so well!!:2tsup::2tsup::)
