Hey Everyone

I learnt a few things today and this one of them that I have rigged up :D a spacer for my wood worm screw :D

So did you

A - glue the block and piece
B - allow only part of the screw through

If Glued did you use CA, Epoxy or Hotmelt??

Good job Ian I still have yet to make 3 spacers:roll:

Thanks guys it was not glued, the screw only comes part of the way just enough to hold on to the smaller projects and for me to practice on getting my bowl walls sirmetrical :2tsup:

Now all you have to do is reverse chuck it and finish it off.

Have you tapered the tenon and is it deep enough.........?

Hey Ian,
when you rechuck a bowl like that with a thin walled recess, be careful not to over tighten it. The vicmarc chuck has enough force to break the walls.
(should have said that yesterday with that pine one :doh:)

I did taper it and was deep enough and it went on fine no probs and then I had a catch :doh:and the little bowl is now no more :fit: but I spose that is all part of learing hey:read:

We're always learning.
Today I learned that if you don't like turning end grain don't stick a 14" Bunya Pine log on the lathe and try to turn a thin walled end grain bowl!:no:

Ian I have been there done that taught me that I can use a sacrificial piece and hot melt glue it onto the base then chuck it.

Sorry you lost it bummer looked great.
