Before I place an order and have to pay freight I want to make sure that there is not a supplier of wood turning supplies in the Port Macquarie area. Taree to Kempsey is not a problem.

Try Mal at Rollands Plains. He has stacks of timber and you can drive up and select what you want
You can find info on his web blog: Google: 'Boutique Timbers"

Greg

:2tsup::2tsup:what type of timber are you after

Not after timber. Have already made a trip up to Mal. Looking for the small sanding disks used by bowl makers. After the 50mm and 75mm. Can get them from Carbatec or Gary Pye, but would be quicker if available locally.

Try Sandpaper Man here (http://www.thesandpaperman.com.au/)

I've wondered whether the discs really need to be round or could you get by with cutting squares and then nipping the corners off - thus making 8 sided sanding discs?

Sawdust Maker, I am looking for the actual sanding disk mount. Did not make myself clear. I will most probably bulk buy the sandpaper and cut it to size myself. Much cheaper. Thanks for the input though.

I found the hooks on the pads wore out quite quickly so I use the interface pads from

the Sandpaper man. gives a more resiliant surface and saves the pad.

Made a wad punch for the discs from 2"pipe, works well.

Thanks for the input Phil. Might end up going down that path myself.

Hey Nick...
Come & say hello at Artisans Retreat while you are up this way.
Good coffee etc & you might just get some inspiration from the Gallery.
(Might even get into the workshop!!)
Cheers
Peter
