Evening all,
I finished turning this one a while ago but finally finished oiling it recently. Wood is Coolibah Burl and the finish is Kunos oil. Bloody hard stuff to turn but worth it in the end, I would have loved going thinner but didn't want to risk loosing everything:rolleyes:

Thanks guys, dimensions are 245x25. I'm working on a stand to do outboard turning so should be able to go a fair bit bigger when I figure out how to do it:)

Hey Corbs,

Very Nice, :2tsup: i love the Shape, someone is gunna Love it. (If I did something like that it wouldn't get past Quality Control, she would claim it before the real world got a chance to see it.)

Nice work Corbs.

Here it would not get past Quality Control either. She would have it very quickly.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers,
Russ

Nice one Corbs :2tsup: Plenty of Coolibah around here but the burls are always resiny and flaky - lucky bugga!

The more I see of Kunos oil finishes the more I think I'll have to give it a go.

Very nice piece!

After getting my hands on some cooibah burl recently, I can fully appreciate the effort in your piece.
It would be the hardest timber on chisels that I have worked with, requiring constant sharpening, but certainly worth the effort.
Here's my couple of projects just completed in coolibah.

The first is a clock measuring about 350mm x 350mm and the bowl is
200mm x 55mm.

Hi Corbs,
Thats a nice piece of burl. I was lucky enough to get some similar and turned up some bowls for gifts for the friends we stayed with in France and the US, told 'em it was from the tree the swaggie camped under!
