Hi, my name is Holly, my Dad and I are putting on a timber expo to be part of this years Highlands Steam and Vintage Fair, held in Oberon (Central West NSW, near Bathurst) the weekend of February 11th, 12th & 13th. For more info on the fair please go to The Wood Guys - Home (http://www.thewoodguys.com.au/) or Highlands Steam and Vintage Fair - Oberon 2011 (http://www.highlandssteam.org.au/).
I know it's really short notice but a friend just suggested that I get on here and look for interested people. We are looking for anyone who might be interested in having a stall, selling their own made products, or people who may like to demonstrate something in the woodwork field, like a woodturner etc. We did have someone coming to demo turning but they double booked and we missed out :( So if there's anyone out there who's is a bit clever and wouldn't mind showing off, I'd love to hear from you. The stall cost is $60 for the 3 days + $68 for insurance if you don't already have your own. But, if you are demonstrating something then there is no charge at all to you, only your own personal expenses.
This is our first year doing the timber expo and it's looking very promising. Lucas Mill will be here, as well as all our local carpenters making cubby houses and a settlers cottage, made completely from Oberon materials, which will be auctioned off on the Sunday morning, with proceeds going to the Oberon Junior Rugby League. We have some axe cutting, cross-cut sawing, milling, chainsaw carving, just to name a few. We are hoping to be felling the trees on-site by hand and with a harvester (TBC), to show how it used to be done in the old days and how we do it now. The trees will then be taken over to the mill and sawn up for the cubby houses. Forests NSW will be there with a timber history display and some old machinery, and someone from Borg will be there to give a talk to the running of the mill and how it all goes from tree to finished product. Oberon is one of the biggest manufacturers of particle board in the country, and the Oberon plant processes 1.3 million tonnes of logs per year.
If you are interested in being part of our show, please call John 0418629818 or reply to this post. The more the merrier :D
Or just come along for a look, should be a great weekend! Please note: most of the action for the timber show will be on the Saturday. Friday is mostly for school kids, and there's a music festival on the Sunday.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post, hope to hear from you soon.
