I had a bit of trouble shaping the neck!! in the bottom left of this picture is the side of the nail head it then travels diagonally up thru the neck

I had to try my best and cut thru the nail using my homemade hollowing tools which have hss tips with 5% cobalt

Wild lookin' wood...will the purple fade over time?

What can I say, WOW :2tsup:

Is the colour all natural, does it last etc?

Fantastic, and great work chewing throught the nail without smashing the whole thing:2tsup:

thank you

yes the colour is natural, although obviously it’s a reaction to ferrous metal being in the tree or ground- but in my book that’s natural :D

will the colour fade?: the simple answer is yes- all vibrant wood colours fade over time (do you know of a wood that keeps that brand new fresh colour?) but there's a few things I can do to slow down the rate of the fade- I apply an oil with a uv inhibitor in it- and I advise that you don’t put these piece's in direct sunlight.

Hello Cornucopia.
This is one of my aspirations to make beautiful hollow forms like that. I like them, well done.
