I have acquired the use of a lathe but it has no manual and the speed select lever will only give me 2 speeds not ten.
does anyone knoe where I might obtain a manual.

Right manual, but why does it give you only two speeds instead of ten? Something is likely amiss.

Open the headstock and lubricate the shafts, to make sure you don't damage it by forcing speed changes. And replace the belt if necessary.

Thank you so much .. This machine belongs to my partner .. her ex got in many years ago and only turned two pieces!!!
And Joe I will lube the parts as suggested.

MC900 is a carba-tec model, try them for manual.
Also, only try to change speed when the lathe is running

As advised, only change speed with the lathe running.

This model uses a Reeves pulley system to provide continuously variable speed changes within the stated range. However, the pulley shafts tend to get dirty, so sometimes you move the lever, and the speed doesn't change.

Beware that the pulleys are made of a rather brittle metal, so trying to force them may result in damage to one or both pulleys.
