Similar to a previous entry, except made from Noble Fir, and with a cutoff paintball tube for a vase liner. Also, seven of the concentric multi-axis decorative rings are centered on the knots, and four more added in blank spaces. Only the original ball surface is sanded; practically impossible in the turned rings.
4 5/8" (118mm) diameter, finished with satin polyurethane.

Joe

Looks great Joe.
I have enough trouble just turning a ball with no decorations.

For Step 11, I simply measure the circumference, and mark two points at the ends and the middle - seems to be accurate enough.
If the cup centers are too wobbly, just use them for stationary workholding. A miniature belt sander makes quick work of the tenons. For this piece, the tenons were just cut off, because it sets in only one position.
Cheers,
Joe
