G'day
This lamp incorporates a couple of idears I have been playing with .
The shade is of camphor laurel.250mm D x 220mm H and about1mm thick +/- 1/2mm
I didn't make it thin enough to start off with and it moved a bit before I got it down to the size I wanted , hence the variation in thicknes . I learnt quite a bit when making this and the next one will be better when a suitable bit of wood comes my way .
The stem is a coolabah slab that I got from Greg Ward at the last Sydney GTG.It's about 380mm high x 25mm thick . The biggest challange was boring the hole because it was very hard .
Finish is DO
The light inside is a 20w low energy bulb .
Comments invited .

It looks fantastic.

I know it's an illusion but the white lamp fitting almost disappears making the shade appear to float.

One question though, is the foot big enough to give it plenty of stability?

It's stable enough . That's a heavy bit of ironbark on the base although I'll admit it looks top heavy . Actually ,the lampshade and base weren't planed as a unit ,Its just that I could show two jobs in the one posting . Despite this I have someone who wants to buy it as a set .
