:aussie5:

PLEASE NOTE

This Australia Day Pen Swap is run under the auspices of the Woodwork Forums and as such is open only to members of this forum, it does not matter where in the world you are located, you are welcome to join in.

All we ask is that you join this forum to participate in the fun.
Joining is easy

Gudday.
:ausflag: I'm hereby declaring the 2012 Australia Day pen swap officially open.:fireworks:

Please be sure to register by midnight (Sydney time) on January 25 2012 so I can include you in the swap partners matchup draw.

The swap partners will be drawn and posted to the forum by 9 am Sydney time on Australia Day 2012 (which is 26 January for those who have trouble remembering dates).

If you are unlikely to complete the swap on time please do not register as this is unfair and unAustralian and just not proper :hmmm: see further below!

This is open to all our overseas friends so please join in.

Everyone is welcome, whether you're a beginner or a world renowned expert, you can join in. The more the merrier. It is a great way to make new friends and to expand your horizons. :shake: Please let your pen turning friends know. :phone1:

http://www.woodworkforums.com/images/smilies/smilie%20signs/N1RulzHL1.gif Basic rules:
If you want to join in, post the following information by midnight 25 January 2012:
Name
OS or DOM (preference)
Country of Origin. On 26 January 2012, I'll randomly (and scientifically!) match swap partners.

After the draw is made contact your partner, make a pen and send it post haste, blanks can also be exchanged if desired, that's between you and your partner. The swap is open to all styles of pens, discuss with your partner. Please complete all swaps by 31st March 2012

When your partner's swap is received, take a photo and post to the forum (and brag about the nice wood you've received). We'll set up another thread for these photos etc

Keep in contact with your swap partner, we all know stuff happens, communicate if there is a delay.

:fineprint: NEW Rule: If you didn't complete your part of the swap last year then you cannot join in. If you nominate for this swap and don't complete, you will be precluded from participating in any future swaps. :((
Please PM or email me if you if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions. I may or may not respond depending on red wine, my biorhythms etc. :D

Go forth and make pens :kang:

The aim is to match Aussies with those, such as yourself, living in other climes

But the problem with swapping with Ron is that he might get confused and send a fly rod instead

I think I'll do what the wife does at a time like this ... eat a box of chocolates

The 'paw' is about 75% and there never was pain but I'm not sure it's going to get any better. I can hold a chisel ok but it's still a problem trying to wrap tread.

Not an issue and no need to apologize Pete ... it is what it is ... and my wife says I have the emotional feelings of a corpse so it's kind of like water off a ducks back.

The good thing is today was the first day that I was able to turn multiple things in one stretch without the hand going numb. (not sure if this is because I procrastinated and waited too long or the hand is getting better).

The garage today was a balmy 31ºF and turned 7 Biblical timber blanks for a Xmas order (5-BOW, 1-Carob and 1-Shittim) and applied the CA and will polish them out tomorrow.

G'day Shawn, thanks for joining in.

Our Pen Swap is a little different from a PITH (Pen In The Hat) swap in that here we match people one-on-one, ie you get matched to a partner and you send pens to each other.

The PITH concept works by you sending a pen to one person and receiving a pen from another person.

Just thought I would clarify that.
