I'm trying to avoid buying a doweling jig for a project I'm doin because I can't really justify the $40-80 cost for such a small job. Any suggestions on how I might achieve the same thing without one?

Hi Stephen. Theres a number of ways of doing this, but probably the easiest is to buy a set of "dowell centres". After you drill the holes in one part, place the dowell centres in the holes, clamp the parts together, a indentation is left in the undrilled piece to act as a centre. A brad point bit is best for this job. See ya, Rod
