Bench Drill Speeds

Hi All,

I have fairly recently bought a Drill Press and I am starting to wonder about the speed at which it is running. . . there are 3 belts to determine the speed gearing of the bit, but, naturally, I have lost/misplaced/thrown out that part of the paperwork that describes what settings achieve which rpm.

Should I set my rpm rate at a high rate medium rate or low rate. I use the press to drill out holes of 25mm - 65mm diameters using speed bits and hole cutters.

Hi Rex,

Some tine ago i came across a RPM chart for bench drills. The chart indicates the most suitable speed for most types of drilling. I am happy to post you a copy if you email me your home address. Alternatively i can send you a scanned version via email.

Cheers

Allan

Allen, your offer is too good to refuse matey.

We have ourselves 3 alternatives:

1. You can either go to :

http://www.speedlink.com.au/users/penrex/WoodIdeas/Product.html

and have a look around my wood site (as well as some other pages), my email link and postal address are on the above page, or,

Mail to : Rex's Wood Ideas, P.O.Box 35, Albion Park, 2527 or

email a scanned version from here.

Personally, I'd like you (and everyone else who visits this site) to visit my site and you can see what I am about, then I believe you may find it cheaper to email a scanned image.

I am in the Wollongong area, how close are you to here ?
