Morning all

Here is my latest woodturning distraction - external wave grooves. Thought I'd post a couple of pics. This is where I'm up to...some bowls and trinket boxes.

Hi all

bench1holio - Thanks Ben, the first bowl is Claret Ash with pyro decoration in the groove. A home made tip in a standard pyro pen.

ticklingmedusa & starr - Thanks guys. I don't have a pic of the jig, will take one and post.

TITT - G'day Vern, this router stuff is distracting and addictive. If you have lot's of hours to waste, you should try it.

Willy Nelson - Thanks, I'll try and post a pic.
The woods are -
1 - Claret Ash with pyro (lot's of it in Canberra)
2 - Claret Ash with gold ribbon (stolen from wife's sewing kit)
3 - Lid is Coolabah Burl with Brown Mallee knob, base unknown wood, decoration is gold rope style chain (donated by wife :;)
4 - Lid is Coolabah Burl with Brown Mallee knob, base is Eucalypt Resin Burl
5 - Lid is Red Gum Burl and the base is Camphor Laurel

I've inset metal bangles into my boxes (3rd pic) but never in a wave form - I like that.

And your take on the finials for pics 3 & 4 I think are stunning.

Impressive work all round - well done.

Wheelin - Thanks, you should be able to do this on your OT lathe.

Hughie - Thanks, I can't freehand carve so I'm forced to use a router.

 When its built

I have done similar but using handtools on David Lairds Swash lathe see first 4 photos GalleryEquip2 (http://www.otga.org.au/GalleryEquip2.htm)

Noisey beast takes a bit of getting used to but I used to enjoy it. Yours would of course be much quieter except for the router.
