I was given these the other day by a friend of mine: these are the tools used by a master mould maker at the Wangan Foundry at Innisfail Nth Qld. up until his retirement in the 1980's.
Missing from the collection are a number of modified cementer's trowels. The set was hand made and owned by a German immigrant named Wolfgang, I don't know his surname just
that it starts with a W as some of the trowels had WW carved into the handles. According to the story he retired in his 40's to go work on a tropical island resort as their gardener as
working in a foundry is a young man's game. He gave them to my friend who runs a small foundry/machine shop . The brass tubes are apparently pushed into the sand mould to cut
holes, then the sand inside is flicked onto the ground.
