Bear in mind that you're up for freight which would be a couple of hundred dollars plus what ever he charges for packing - on ebay seller fees are charged on the sale price excluding freight costs so many people use freight costs to pad out the sale price.

For about $3300 (less if you fight for a deal) you can get a Vicmarc 175. Sure you lose 100mm on the swing, but you get electronic variable speed, a base that looks more substantial, and a warranty - with a swivel head do you really need a 460mm swing?

I would give this thing a miss.

It is my understanding that Woodfast no longer make lathes, so are spares and service going to be a problem.
Also the photo clearly shows 5 pulleys and a belt. Is this electronic speed control as advertised.

Thanks everyone for your time & trouble.

Considering the circumstances I will direct my purchase towards the Vicmarc.

Best regards.
