Just finished with first coat of satin to seal it, now I am not sure which way to jump gloss or build up several coats of satin and possibly buff with a wax :? OK buffing will be a challenge, maybe hand buff.
its 10x5" reddish mallee

Buffing should be a minor challange after getting that far. A great effort.

Most definitely a "challenging" piece. I can appreciate the need for underwear changes on a regular basis. :oo: Very nicely done. :2tsup:

Very nice work Hughie. Good form.
I assume you are spraying a satin lacquer. If this is the case then several coats of satin will still give you satin. I use semi gloss a lot and think that would look good with this piece.

I haven't got enough pairs of brown undies to even think about turning a piece of wood like that :oo:
I'm in awe and love the final piece :2tsup:

Brendan I think in this case your right some gloss will pop the colours and grain structure on the burl. I did so with the other one, my problem is I am partial to an oiled fiinish.
Thanks for all positive comments, much appreciated. :2tsup:
Vern, :U ...and they will be hard, as far as I know they are all very dry

Hughie I have found I can use DO to make the colours pop and then after a period of drying spray Satin with no problem.
