Hi all, If I could ask one more question, this plate came with my lathe, does anyone know what it's used for? It measures 5" across. Harry

It is a drive dog, there should be a cast bracket with a hole in it, a bolt to clamp and a leg coming off the top also. It is used to grip a shaft that may have unusual shapes on the end meaning that it cant be held in the lathe jaws easily, or to grip a round shaft to finish turning between centres.

Thanks for that Kryn, I was just about to put holes in it and use it as a little faceplate<!-- google_ad_section_end -->:)

The plate is a drive plate, used with a drive dog in metal turning. Go ahead and drill holes in it and use as a face plate. Did a carriage come with it?
