A few nice bits of spalted beech turned up in the last load of logs. Couldn't bring myself to put them on the fire....
All small bits so decided turn some new handles to pimp up a few old paring & carving chisels. Although spalted the wood is not too soft, I rough turned then gave a good soak in wood hardener to just toughen them up a bit.
Wouldn't want to go pounding on them too much though!

There certainly is some figure and spalting in that fire wood - well rescued.

The shapes are just great!!!

Who said tool handles had to "plain"? You have an artistic flair
