The first job for the new year. Been a while since the lathe got a work out, so the first job was a threaded box. 65mm high and 60mm diameter out of red tulip oak, a fairly firm timber often used for flooring. Finished to 1200# paper and then Ubeaut glow. Gotta make some more acorns soon to.

Naahh Hughie, just spent three weeks sitting on my bum re-stumping the house. It is 600mm off the ground and has 50 stumps. Not my choice of pre-Christmas job. Swmbo reported the sewing room door jammed shut, and that means big time strife, so an instant response was essential.

Yep, the posts were laminated from steel and concrete. The steel turned into rust. :p

Oh nice. Tulip oak? :hmm: I have a kind of order for a threaded box. Was wondering what other woods are good for threading. That are more available down south? :hmm:
