Hi folks,

I have someone here in the UK trying to track down Artificial Wine Corks (the plastic type ones). We can't locate them in the UK but it's thought that they were developed in Aus for your wine trade.

Do you have a link to a supplier that might help out.

Any thoughts or links appreciated,

Thanks

I've not seen them in the US. We have the usual run of the mill Chinese cheapo stoppers and some excellent 100% stainless steel (food grade 304) available from Ruth Niles (Stainless Steel Bottle Stoppers |Joyner Pendant Jig } Design Gallery (http://nilesbottlestoppers.com/)).

I'm making stoppers with them and love them. They don't chip, don't pit, don't discolour, and work a treat. If you look on YouTube, check out CapnEddie's channel. He has a couple videos where he demonstrates using them (#139 and #141).

Trent,

we have plenty of sources of the metal stopper with O' rings etc, and even natural corks, but he specifically wants the synthetic corks.

But thanks for your input,

Do you mean these? (http://www.cws.au.com/shop/item/silicon-bottle-stoppers-10-pack)

If so contact Carrolls, they may ship to the UK.

Peter.

Hi Dragonfly

A distinct change in the closure market here in Oz. Natural cork remains for the top end (? don't know who decides on top end) and screw top for the majority.

Try Nomacorc - About Us (http://www.nomacorc.com/about-nomacorc.php) or Vinova :: synthetic wine cork & closures ? wine bottle stopper and cork with extruded synthetic closure (http://www.vinova.be/engels/home.htm), both in your time zone.

Our local manufacturer seems to have gone a bit quiet.

How do they seal scrumpy?

Thanks folks,

the links from APD and P1w2 lead to the sort of thing he's looking for, I'll pass the links.

P1w2, they don't seal scrumpy, it needs lumps and crunchy bits in to to achieve full flavour!

When you get done, I'd sure appreciate it if you show how you attach them to the turned piece :-)

I guess my lack of wine experience really shows.
