I am looking for a retailer of specalised hinges in the Melbourne area. I am building a extendable dining table and require hidden hinges that open 180 degrees. I think they are called barrell hinges but am not to sure. Can anyone help?
Thanks

Hardware availability in this country is very spotty. Hafele (http://www.hafele.com.au) probably have the biggest hardware catalogue in this country and it is now available online at their website.

On the other hand their hardware is more aimed at manufacturers than the craftsman which is fine if you're making kitchens etc.

I just bought some handles for bedside tables from Horton Brasses (http://www.horton-brasses.com) which arrived today. I could not buy the size I wanted locally so I was forced to look offshore. I bought Swan neck rosette pulls in polished brass. They are little jewels! I am very pleased with the service and product. It only took a week to get here too.

Ah, I think I know what you are talking about now! Perhaps you are referring to Soss hinges? http://www.motherofpearl.com/web/SOSS-BH104.htm

There are a couple of different types, as you can see at the link. One just needs a hole drilled in each piece and the other requires a little more fitting again.

Bit late in picking up this thread, but try www.veneerinlayaustralia.com (http://www.veneerinlayaustralia.com) They have the hinges you are looking for.
