help for a pommy what fretsaw blades are reccomended for cutting 6and 9mm MDF board as i seem to be using them by the packet. have tried slow progress and not doing tight turns all to no avail. how much tension do you put on the blade the instruction book with my rexon machine is not clear

A mate of mine was cursing his scroll saw also braking blades every 5 min.

Dud batch of blades!!!

Next packet (decent brand) no problem.

Don't know if it applies to a fretsaw - I guess it does - but one of the main cause of scrollsaw blades breaking is the users tendency to push to the side rather than directly into the blade. Even now I still find myself doing i, and it's guaranteed to break blades.

Should be fairly tight, nice middle C when plucked.
Make sure tyhe arms are not out of alignment either as this will cause undue stress to both the blade and the operator when the blades break.
Good blades are available from http://www.mikesworkshop.com/ and are cheaper than Olsen. German and well made with a good range.
Also have a look at http://www.scrollsaws.com/ for tips on tuning your saw, not sure if yoursis there but most are similar and it may be of some help.
