Hi all, seeing that it’s my first anniversary on this forum and that I’ve survived a year of wood turning without any major catastrophe, I thought I would try and make something that shows the direction I want my wood turning to take hopefully. It might be a Mallee burl, not sure, a mate saved it from a campfire , and it measures 9” x 6”.
Thanks to all who have made constructive comments and encouragements throughout the year, the knowledge obtainable on this forum is incredible. Cheers Harry

I like it :2tsup:

All that ash/burnt bits must have been cruel on your tools :C. Why would anyone want to burn a burl

Thanks. More cruel on the lungs. Most people have no idea what's inside a piece of wood, have they?

It looks like a 1000 year old pot dug out of some archaeological site. A look I really like.

Impressive work, well done.
