Going for a burl

In my younger days "going for a burl" was going for a ride
on my bicycle. Nowadays it has a different meaning.

How many items could I make from this burl. The tree is
on the way from Wallan to Epping and I doubt the developers
will cut it down. Anyone caught cutting down these old
gums face hefty fines.
