Hello Mapleman
I am the last person to be critical of someones work, but could you please photograph your work on a bland background or something other than what you have used. The timber is superb, the form is excellent, the photography has undone your good work, sorry,
I too, have been accused of poor photography, hope you understand
Sincerely
Willy

great bowl! agree with willy, a more plain background will accentuate the beautiful detail in the wood.

Think Willy's right, paler background does enhance the grain..my pics though are still a bit average, will work on that :)..MM:2tsup:

Mapleman,
I was a commercial / advertising / industrial photographer for 40 years.
Here is what I do: I have a piece of stiff light gray fabric that was on the bottom of a mattress. I drape it in a gentle curve from the tube it is wound around when I'm not using it.
I bounce a 500 watt quartz work light off a light color ceiling. I set the digital camera on auto color balance so it corrects somewhat.
I use the camera on a tripod so I can frame the subject and take longer exposures without fuzzy photos.
I adjust the photos in Picasa: Picasa | DownloadInfo - We Review Software! (http://www.downloadinfo.co/review/picasa/?kw=picasa&subid=DIPIUS&cust=picasa&type=picasa&gclid=CI-_iuqW9LkCFSpk7AodmxkAhg&utm_campaign=DIPIUS&fwd=1&rnd=f209cf32983d414463a666d8c26cd280f0695ac7&ts=1380580326)
Picasa lets you crop, lighten, straighten, adjust color & contrast, retouch, etc. I used Photoshop 6 several computers ago and can't justify the newer versions. Picasa does almost everything I want to do to a photo.
See photos below for samples.
You do beautiful work!!!
