So on Sunday arvo I was roughing out a blank and managed to snap my banjo in three places. I've sent it to the father in laws to see if he can weld it up but if thats a no go does anyone know where I can get a replacement one? I've got a gmc ml something lathe. Looked around the net and they seem pretty hard to come by. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is it one like the above?

If so, Woodfast may have a suitable one here (http://www.woodfast.com.au/index.php?p=1_8), half way down the page

Firstly welcome to the forum.

I am not able to help in locating a suitable banjo for you GMC lathe but I would think it might be a little hard to get just the banjo for the GMC. I might suggest to post a wanted question in this sub-section of the forum, Market Place/Auctions (http://www.woodworkforums.com/f275/?c=9)

Other suggestion would be to purchase a new or second hand lathe.

Find somebody with a TIG welder, then get some cast iron arc rods knock the flux off them. Then you will find it can be welded up as good as new if not better.
